It's a fiction, not a moral treatise.

I'm a 28 year-old Instructor of Argument. It is my job to teach incoming college students that talking smack professionally is about having an opinion and backing it up. I teach young adults not only to have opinions, but to have a VOICE in their community and in the world at large. I inspire, I discourse, and I geek out.

I know I have a few people that follow me because of my political discussions, but you should know I also blog and reblog things for fun. I'm into fandom; it's part of my life. Don't be surprised if you see stuff about Disney, or kittens, or even my own artwork. Sometimes, I need to not be so serious.

You’re probably going to misinterpret this post.

altoidyoda:

Setting the democratic party platform aside, I actually don’t agree with Joe Biden’s specific rationale regarding abortion. Ultimately, Biden has it right, but his logic is wrong. He’s trying to have it both ways. You either believe it’s murder or you don’t. That’s the only dilemma. You can’t say “I believe it’s murder but people should be able to choose murder if they want.” It doesn’t make sense, morally. If you’re pro-choice, just come out and say it’s not murder. If you honestly believe it is murder, you are morally obligated to oppose all abortion, because murder is always wrong. That’s why abortion is such a difficult issue. It’s unlike any other. Biden has the science on his side, if he’s going to argue in favor of abortion, he is stupid to say he believes life begins at conception. If he really does hold those contradictory opinions, it shows moral complacency on his part.

If I were his math teacher, I would give him partial credit for coming up with the right answer but using the wrong method. Yes, it’s pedantic and I’m one of those douchy math teachers, but the morals and ethics behind this topic are very important.

It has nothing to do with the fact that if you’re the Vice Leader of the Free World you have to protect the freedoms of ALL your people and not just the ones that think like you do, no…
